5 Reasons to Buy in Perth

Posted on 6 June 2015

Of all the capital cities in Australia, Perth would have to be one of the most underrated. Located as far west as you can get, Perth proudly boasts views of perfect sunsets over the ocean and idyllic weather conditions. But it’s not only the beaches and the relaxed vibe that entices buyers, the city has much more to offer.

If you are thinking about tapping into the market in Perth, here are five reasons that can help you make your decision.

1. Location and lifestyle

Although Perth may be Australia’s most isolated capital city, it certainly ticks boxes that other cities can’t. Perth boasts more sunlight hours each year than any other Australian capital. This combined with hot summers and mild winters makes it the ideal location for a laidback outdoor lifestyle.

Perth’s clean and spacious sprawl is bordered by some of the most beautiful stretches of coastline and some of the most stunning beaches in the country. Add plentiful green parklands and the picturesque Swan River snaking through the city, and popular Fremantle just a stone’s throw away, and you have one of the most delightful cities in Australia.

2. Liveability

Despite its isolated location, Perth has once again been named in the top 10 most liveable cities in the world, coming in a respectable ninth in the 2014 rankings. In calculating the rankings, the Economist Intelligence Unit’s Global Liveability Index takes into consideration a range of criteria from healthcare, culture, environment and infrastructure to education.

Perth is well-designed, with good road networks, beautiful parks and gardens, and a vibrant city hub. The mining boom also brought great economic growth, boosting the health, education and jobs sectors.

3. Growth

In terms of population, Perth is Australia’s fastest growing city, with ABS data showing it reached two million residents in 2014. The largest population growth occurred in the outer suburbs of the city, and growth is expected to continue at a steady rate.

4. Diversity

Perth has so much to offer for everyone. Young and single? The city has many new restaurants and bars in its vibrant centre, and a number of luxurious apartment complexes. Raising a family? The outer suburbs are family-friendly, with great schools, parklands and amenities.

Beaches and the beautiful Swan River offer a diverse and picturesque setting for all to enjoy.
Perth is also home to a diverse range of properties, from older heritage buildings to modern and contemporary architecture. Just remember that when buying a property, whether it be an older home or a new construction, it’s essential to arrange a building inspection.

5. Next property boom?

Perth may be shaping up as the next Australian property hotspot, according to a Roy Morgan Poll released in May. According to the survey, 1 in 10 Perth residents, or 9.8%, said they intended to either build or buy a new or established house or apartment within the next 12 months. When put in perspective against Melbourne at 8.3% and Sydney at 7.8%, appetite for property in Perth is strong.

So if you are considering buying in Perth, now might be a good time to take action. And as with any purchase, it’s important to remember to be thorough, not only with the suburb choice, but the property itself. Arm yourself with knowledge, engage a qualified practitioner for your building inspections, and you’ll soon be enjoying the Perth lifestyle from your own backyard.

Compare Inspections is now offering pre-purchase property inspections in Perth, so you can buy with confidence. So what are you waiting for?
